biography

Radanova came to the short track by speed skating when she was around ten years old . She started for the club Slavia Sofia SC and was trained by Iwan Pandow and Julian Angelow. She has participated in international championships since 1994. Radanowa started in November 1997 for the first time in the newly introduced World Cup . In the 1998/99 season she won her first World Cup race. In the following years she regularly achieved podium places and top ranks in the overall World Cup rankings, including a victory in the 500 m World Cup. She ended her career after the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver .

Between 2002 and 2004, Radanova also competed in track cycling on the advice of her trainer . She took part in the World Championships 2003 in Stuttgart and 2004 in Melbourne . Her best results were 14th in the sprint and 16th in the 500 m time trial. She started at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens and achieved twelfth place in the sprint.

Radanowa set four world records in the short track between 1998 and 2001 . The last world record over 500 m lasted seven years. She was the first Bulgarian female athlete to win two medals in Winter Olympics and the first to compete in both summer and winter games.
