European Short Track Championships 2008
The 2008 European Short Track Championships took place between January 18th and 20th, 2008 in Ventspils , Latvia . A total of four European championship titles were awarded, one each in the all-around competition and one in the relay for women and men. It was the first international short track championships to be held in Latvia. The host was the International Skating Union (ISU).
In the women, the Italian Arianna Fontana won ahead of the defending champion Evgenija Radanowa from Bulgaria, in the men’s race, Haralds Silovs from Latvia won ahead of Niels Kerstholt from the Netherlands and the defending champion Nicola Rodigari from Italy. In the relay competition, the British quartet prevailed among the women and the Italian quartet among the men.

- Every athlete who has reached a final receives points there for his placement, from 34 points for first place to one point for eighth place. If an athlete does not compete (DNS), is disqualified (DSQ) or does not reach the finish (DNF), he will not receive any points for the all-round competition.
