Nina Alexandrowna Jewtejewa ( Russian: Нина Александровна Евтеева , born November 24, 1982 in Omsk ) is a Russian short tracker .

Life

She has been part of the Russian national team since 1998 and starts for the Dynamo Omsk club . She played her first international championship at the 2000 World Championships in Sheffield , where she took 28th place in the all- around competition. A year later she made her debut in The Hague at the 2001 European Championships , where she won her first international medal with bronze in the relay. Yevtejewa took part in the 2002 Olympic Games in Salt Lake City . Over 500 m she was eliminated in the preliminary run, over 1000 m she reached the quarter-finals, over 1500 m the semi-finals.

In the 2002/03 season she finally celebrated her first successes in the World Cup, winning her first World Cup race with the relay. She achieved her first medals in individual races at the 2003 Home European Championship in Saint Petersburg . In the all-around as well as over 1000 m and 1500 m she won bronze and silver with the relay. In the 2003/04 season Evtejewa placed over 1500 m for the first time in a single race on a World Cup podium. At the European Championships in Zoetermeer , she was also the first ever European champion with the relay. She also won the bronze medal over 1000 m. In the 2004/05 season she won her second World Cup race with the relay. At the European Championships in Turin , she defended the title in the relay competition and won bronze in the 1500 m and 3000 m respectively.

The 2005/06 season went less well . Although she reached the podium again in third place in the first World Cup over 3000 m, she did not qualify for the other season highlights within the team and also missed the Olympic Games in Turin . Evtejewa only returned to the road to success in the 2007/08 season . With the relay she reached another World Cup podium. At the European Championships in Ventspils she also won four medals for the first time, bronze in the all-around competition, over 1000 m and 3000 m and silver over 1500 m. At the team world championship in Harbin , she finished eighth with her teammates.

Yevtejewa won her last medal at the 2010 European Championships in Dresden . She won silver with the relay. She qualified for the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver . In her second games she started over two distances, over 1000 m she was eliminated in the prelims and over 1500 m she reached the semi-finals. At the first World Cup of the 2011/12 season , Jewtejewa reached third with the relay again a podium finish in a World Cup race.
