Bernadett Heidum (born May 26, 1988 in Budapest ) is a Hungarian short tracker .

Career

She has been participating in international races since 2002, and finally made her debut in the World Cup in The Hague in November 2005 . At the European Championships in Krynica-Zdrój she won her first international medal. She won bronze with the relay. A year later, Heidum started again at the European Championships in Sheffield . This time she was fourth with the relay and fifth over 1500 m. Heidum also reached the top ranks at the European Championships in Ventspils , but did not win a medal. She was eighth in the all-around event, fifth over 1500 m, sixth over 3000 m and again fifth in the relay. In the 2008/09 season , Heidum reached a semi-final over 1000 m for the first time in a World Cup race. At the 2009 European Championships in Turin , Heidum achieved her greatest success to date. She became European champion with the relay. She also won the bronze medal over 1000 m and was fifth in the all-around competition. She also competed in the World Championships for the first time in Vienna , and she achieved her best placement as 18th in the all- around event . At the 2010 European Championships in Dresden , Heidum won another medal with silver over 1000 m. In the all-around competition and with the relay, she finished fourth. She also reached fifth place with her teammates at the team world championship as the winner of the B-finals. Heidum qualified for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver . There she finished ninth over 1000 m, 23rd over 1500 m and also finished fifth with the relay. Heidum also continued her track record at the 2011 European Championships in Heerenveen . She won silver in the all-around event, over 1000 m and with the relay and bronze over 500 m. In the 2010/11 World Cup , Heidum continued to improve and reached several semi-finals, but she could not qualify for a final. She achieved eighth place in the world cup over 1500 m. Heidum was also successful at the 2012 European Championships in Mladá Boleslav . She won over 1000 m silver and bronze with the relay. She was fourth in the all-around competition. The following year she won fifth place in the all- around competition and fourth place with the relay at the 2013 European Championships in Malmö . In the 2013/14 season she came in eighth place in the World Cup over 1500 m with three top ten placements over 1500 m. At the 2014 European Championships in Dresden, she won the bronze medal with the relay. At the season highlight, the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , she was ninth in the 1500 m and sixth in the relay. The following year she won the bronze medal with the relay at the 2015 European Championships in Dordrecht . In February 2016 she was second with the relay at the World Cup in Dresden. At the 2017 World Championships in Rotterdam , she won the silver medal with the relay.
