Susanne Rudolph (born February 10, 1981 in Wuppertal ) is a former German short tracker .

Since Rudolph only started professional training when she was no longer approved for junior competitions, her first start took place at a major international event at the 2001 European Championships in The Hague . Although she did not survive any preliminary runs there, the German association used her for the first time in December of the same year in the World Cup in Sofia , where she reached the quarter-finals over 500 m, but was disqualified there. At the European Championship a year later, she also made it into the third from last lap at the same distance. In addition, she surprisingly won the relay bronze medal together with Yvonne Kunze , Christin Priebst , Ulrike Lehmann and Yvonne Bolt . As one of two German starters over 500 m, Rudolph also took part in the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City . When the Chinese Yang Yang won , she failed in the preliminaries and finally placed 17th. Even at the 2002 World Cup, she did not get beyond the heats. After the 2002/03 season with a fourth season rank in the World Cup and an early retirement from the World Cup, two years followed without participating in international competitions.

Rudolph came back successfully as seventh at the Winter Universiade 2005 on the short distance. She also reached the semifinals over 3000 meters. After decent results in the first four World Cups of the 2005/06 season, including a second place with the relay, she qualified again for the Olympic Games , which were held in Turin in 2006 . With an 18th place, again over 500 m, she deteriorated by one place compared to the last games, but she was sixth with the relay. The 2006/07 World Cup also went well for the German. Thanks to consistently good placements, which were particularly rewarded in the points system at the time, she reached sixth overall place in the 500 m discipline World Cup. A fifth place, which she had achieved at the World Cup in Heerenveen , remained her best result. However, many of the top athletes had not come to the station where she had achieved seventh place over 1000 m. With the relay, she did not defend the podium from the previous year, but it even came second in the relay world cup.

The 2007 European Championship finished Rudolph twelfth in the all-round competition and as a gold medalist with the relay in which she ran as the starting runner. At the World Cup, however, the German relay was only sixth and penultimate. With further top 10 results in the Short Track World Cup 2007/08 , she made her final breakthrough in the international top, even if the relay could not defend the European title in 2008 , but won the bronze medal. As second in the B final over 500 m in Nagano and the associated sixth place, she also achieved a good result in the 2008/09 season . At the European Championships in Turin , she again won a medal with the relay, this time silver. The 2009/10 season did not go as planned. They failed to qualify for the Olympic Games in Vancouver . At the European Home Championships in Dresden , the German relay won gold, but Rudolph was only a substitute runner.

In addition to his international successes, Rudolph won three silver and two bronze medals in all-around competitions at German championships between 2001 and 2008. In 2008 she was also German champion in the 500 m and 3000 m. Over 500 m she currently holds the German record with 44.292 s.

Rudolph ended her active career at the end of the 2009/10 season. The architecture student is now a junior trainer at her home club EHC Klostersee Grafing.
