Yang Yang ( Chinese  楊揚  /  杨扬 , Pinyin Yáng Yáng; born August 24, 1976 in Harbin ) is a successful Chinese short track runner. Generally she is listed as Yang Yang (A) to distinguish her from the Chinese short track athlete Yang Yang (S) (* 1977). The letter A stands for the month of her birth, August.

At the 2002 Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, Yang Yang won gold in the short track in the races over 500 and over 1000 meters, the success over 500 meters meant the first Chinese gold medal at the Winter Olympic Games.

At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, she carried the Chinese flag during the opening ceremony. In the 1000 meter race, she won the bronze medal there.

Yang Yang is also an athlete spokesperson for the World Anti-Doping Agency and an athlete ambassador for the development aid organization Right to Play . Yang Yang was a member of the International Olympic Committee from 2010 to 2018 .
