Li won her first national title in 2008, was also successful at the Asian Cup and has been part of the national team ever since. She is trained by Li Yan. In the following years, however, she was unable to prevail against the national competition, so she only made it into the Chinese World Cup team in the post-Olympic season 2010/11 . During her World Cup appearance in Moscow in February 2011 , Li was third in the 1000 m and reached her first podium. With the relay, she also won the World Cup race. Li also started at the season highlights. She and her teammates won the silver medal at the team world championships in Warsaw , only narrowly beaten by the South Korean team. Li also convinced at the World Championships in Sheffield . Over 500 m and 3000 m she was fourth in the final and fifth over 1500 m, which brought her seventh place in the all-around event. With the relay she won her first world championship title. The 2011/12 season was also successful for Li. At the World Cup in Salt Lake City , she was third for the first time over 1500 m on the podium, over 1000 m she achieved three podium places, including her first World Cup victory in an individual race in Nagoya . She came second in the 1000 m World Cup. With the relay, Li won five of the six world cup races. However, Li showed her best performance of the season at the home world championship in Shanghai . She won over 1000 m silver, over 1500 m gold and was the first world champion in the all-around event. Li was also successful with the relay and won a total of three championship titles.
