Yang Yang (S)

Yang Yang ( Chinese  楊陽  /  杨阳 , Pinyin Yangyang; * 14. September 1977 in Changchun , Jilin ) is a former Chinese short track speed skating - speed skater . She usually appears as Yang Yang (S) , the addition (S) is not part of her name, it is used to distinguish her from the short track athlete Yang Yang (A) (* 1976). The letter S stands for the month of her birth, September. In Chinese, the names of the two athletes are pronounced the same, but the second, personal name is written with different characters.

Her successes include 5 Olympic medals. At the 1998 Winter Games in Nagano , she won silver in the 500 and 1000 meter races and with the Chinese 3000 meter relay. Also in 2002 at the Winter Games in Salt Lake City , she won the relay silver and a bronze medal in the 1000-meter race.
