Yuri Confortola (born April 24, 1986 in Tirano ) is an Italian short tracker .

Confortola's first international start took place in January 2002 at the Junior World Championship in Chuncheon , where he was eliminated in every race at the latest in the quarterfinals. Even a year later, he missed the finals in every competition, but at least made it to the semi-finals twice. It was not until 2004 that he managed to jump into the last round over 1000 meters, where he immediately won a bronze medal. He qualified for the super final of the best eight athletes, but here he only finished 7th. With the relay, however, he won the silver medal.

In October 2004 Confortola was nominated for the first time for the Short Track World Cup , but in his two appearances in the 2004/05 season he did not reach the finals, not even with the relay. Although he was again unsuccessful at the Junior World Championships in Belgrade in 2005 , he took part for Italy at the Team World Championship in South Korea, where he helped his team to win the silver medal with good placements. With the relay he was eliminated from the individual world championships in the preliminary stages. The appearances in the World Cup 2005/06 were also not very successful and without participation in the finals, so that Confortola did not start at the last three World Cup stations of the season. For this he took part in the major events of 2006, with varying degrees of success; while he won the European Championship with the relay and also achieved decent results in the Team World Cup, the Italian relay failed in the World Cup in the run-up. In addition, Confortola, again with the relay, took part in the 2006 Olympic Games in Turin , where he finished fourth just narrowly past a medal.

In the Short Track World Cup 2006/07 Confortola also did well, with a second place over 1000 meters as the best result. In that race, however, many top athletes did not take part. All in all, in a system that made it worthwhile to start many World Cups in terms of points, he finished fifth in the 1,500 meter World Cup, as he competed in all races over this distance. He was also successful at major events, including winning the bronze medal in the overall competition at the 2007 European Championships and placing fifth over 1000 meters at the World Championships of the same year. The 2007/08 World Cup also ended with Confortola's good results, especially over 1500 meters. Third place in Turin was his best result, and there were further placements close to the podium. At the European Championships in 2008 he missed another individual medal, but triumphed with the team. Confortola, however, ended the world championship without any participation in the finals.

The 2008/09 Short Track World Cup began with further top 10 placements at the first two World Cup stations.
