Park Byung-chul (born December 9, 1972 in Gunsan ) is a former South Korean cross-country skier .

Career

Park started internationally for the first time at the Winter Asian Games 1990 in Sapporo . There he won the silver medal with the relay. In the following year he won 76th place over 10 km classic and 65th place over 15 km freestyle at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Val di Fiemme . At the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville , he finished 55th place over 30 km classic, 51st place in the pursuit and 40th place over 10 km classic. With relay he came there in 15th place. The following year he ran at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun on the 83rd place over 10 km classic, on the 72nd place in the subsequent pursuit and on the 69th place over 30 km classic. At the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer , he finished 77th over 10 km classic, 65th place in the pursuit race and 56th place over 30 km freestyle. In the 1994/95 season he won 58th place over 10 km classic and 37th place in the pursuit at the 1995 Nordic World Ski Championships in Thunder Bay and eighth place over 15 km classic and at the 1995 Winter Universiade in Candanchú seventh place over 30 km freestyle. The 37th place in the pursuit was also his best placement in the cross-country world cup . In February 1996 he won the bronze medal over 10 km classic at the Winter Asian Games in Harbin and was also ninth in the run over 15 km freestyle. In the 1996/97 season he ran at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1997 in Trondheim on 78th place over 10 km classic, 54th place in the pursuit and 43rd place over 30 km freestyle and at the 1997 Winter Universiade in Muju on 31st place over 15 km classic and 21st place over 30 km freestyle. At the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano , he came in 55th place over 30 km classic, 53rd place over 10 km classic and 20th place with the relay. He completed his last international race at the 1999 Asian Winter Games in Gangwon . There he won the bronze medal with the relay. He finished eighth in the individual races over 15 km classic and 30 km freestyle.
