North Korea took part in the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal with a delegation of 38 athletes (36 men and 2 women) in 21 competitions in eight sports.

The North Korean athletes each won a gold and a silver medal in boxing. Olympic champion was Gu Yong-ju in bantamweight, while Li Byong-uk secured silver in light flyweight.
