Finland took part in the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal with a delegation of 83 athletes (77 men and 6 women) in 63 competitions in 14 sports.
The Finnish athletes won four gold and two silver medals. Olympic champions were the rower Pertti Karppinen in the single, the Greco-Roman wrestler Pertti Ukkola in the bantamweight and the athlete Lasse Virén over 5000 and 10,000 meters. Virén was also the flag bearer at the opening ceremony.
