The Swedish national ice hockey team for women (also Swedish Damkronorna ) is the national women's ice hockey selection team in Sweden , which is supported by the Swedish ice hockey association Svenska Ishockeyförbundet . The coach of the national team is Peter Elander .
For many years, the Swedish national team was the fourth best women's team in the world, behind Canada , the USA and Finland . The team has been steadily improving since 2001, winning the bronze medal at the 2002 Winter Olympics , the 2005 and 2007 Women's World Championships and the silver medal at the 2006 Winter Olympics .
There are 3425 female ice hockey players in Sweden (as of 2011).
