The World Championship tournament of Division IV took place from March 23 to 29, 2008 in Miercurea Ciuc in Romania . The games were played in the Arena Vákár Lajos Műjégpálya, which can seat 4,000 spectators. Six teams took part in the tournament.

Due to the restructuring of the top division in 2011 with the reduction from nine to eight participants and the failure of divisions III and IV in the following year, Iceland did not rise to division III as first in the table. The last-placed Turkey was relegated to the newly introduced Division V in 2011.
