history

The Australian national ice hockey team has been participating in the International Ice Hockey Federation's games since the 2000 World Cup. In their first World Cup participation in 2000, the team failed to qualify for the B World Cup for the following year. In the following year, Australia could not qualify for Division II in the newly created third performance level at the Women's World Championships, but rose to Division II at the 2003 World Cup as the first of Division III. In the following years the Australians dominated Division III again and again, but could not stay in Division II for the long term.

Since divisions III to V were not played at the 2009 World Cup and in 2010 there was no women's World Cup anyway due to the hosting of the Winter Olympics in Vancouver , Australia played a World Cup game again in 2011 for the first time in three years and competed in Division III.
