The Bulgarian national ice hockey team for women is the national ice hockey team of Bulgaria in women's ice hockey . In April 2015, the team was 34th in the IIHF world rankings .

history

The Bulgarian national ice hockey team made its debut in September 2008 as part of the qualification for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games . There the Bulgarians had to compete against experienced teams from traditional ice hockey nations and had no chance in four games with a goal difference of 1: 192. The game against Slovakia in particular turned into a debacle for the newly formed national team and ended in a 0-82 defeat, which was the highest defeat in the history of women's ice hockey.

In January 2011, the national team played four test matches in the Turkish city of Erzurum against hosts Turkey and Slovenia and at least managed to keep the matches against Turkey within the limits (0: 5 and 2: 3). The games served as preparation for the 2011 World Cup , when Bulgaria made its World Cup debut as hosts in Division V. In their first World Cup participation, the Bulgarians won their first two competitive games and they finished the tournament in third place.
