The Icelandic national ice hockey team of the women 's national ice hockey team's selection Islands in female hockey . In January 2011 she was in 29th place in the IIHF world rankings .

history

The Icelandic national ice hockey team made their debut at the 2005 World Cup , where they finished fourth in Division IV. After a fifth place in Division IV at the 2007 World Cup , the Icelanders were able to confidently achieve first place in their division and promotion to the next division in 2008 .

After only the first three levels played during the 2009 World Cup and there was no World Cup in the 2010 Olympic year, the entire World Cup system was revised for the 2011 World Cup and Iceland had to remain in Division IV. Due to the cancellation of several teams, they played the following year in the higher division II B , where they reached fourth place.
