The 18th Women's Ice Hockey World Championships of the International Ice Hockey Federation IIHF took place between February 18 and April 18, 2015 in five tournaments of the top division as well as divisions I and II. In addition, four national teams took part in a qualifying tournament for Division II B, which was held in Hong Kong in February 2015 .

The world champion became the sixth time the United States team , which defeated Canada 7-5 in the final . The German team finished last and relegated to Division IA, while Switzerland placed sixth. The national team of Austria reached second place in Division IA and was tenth in the overall ranking of the World Cup.

The top division of the world championship was held from March 28 to April 4, 2015 in Malmö , Sweden . The games were played in Malmö Isstadion (5,750 seats) and Rosengårds Ishall with 600 seats.

Eight national teams took part in the tournament, playing in two performance-graded groups of four teams each. The four semi-finalists of the 2013 World Cup formed Group A. The Japanese team secured their participation via a qualifying tournament in November 2014 , in which they defeated the Czech national team 2-1. The numbers in brackets indicate the positions in the IIHF world rankings .

After the group matches of the preliminary round, the group first and second in group A qualify directly for the semi-finals. The third and fourth of the same group reach the quarter-finals. In group B, this applies to the group first and second. The teams in the quarterfinals each play a qualifying game for participation in the semi-finals. The third and fourth in Group B contest a best-of-three round for seventh place and relegation to Division IA.
