The South African national ice hockey team for women is South Africa 's national ice hockey team in women's ice hockey . In April 2015 the team was 32nd in the IIHF world rankings . The South African national team is the only women's ice hockey team on the entire African continent .

history

The South African women's national ice hockey team has been participating in the International Ice Hockey Federation's games since the 1999 World Cup. In their first World Cup participation in 1999, the team failed to qualify for the B World Cup for the following year. In the following year, South Africa could not qualify for the B-WM and rose several times in the following years, so that the team had to compete in the 2008 World Cup in Division IV, the fifth World Cup level in women's ice hockey.

Since divisions III to V were not played at the 2009 World Cup and in 2010 there was no women's World Cup anyway due to the hosting of the Winter Olympics in Vancouver , South Africa will play a World Cup again in 2011 for the first time in three years and played again in Division IV . With four defeats they were relegated to Division V, but due to the cancellation of several teams they played the following year in the higher Division II B , where they finished last without a win.
