Participants, venues and periods

The top division and divisions I and II were divided according to the results of the 2009 World Cup. Because of the reduction in the number of participants in the top division from nine to eight, there were two relegated teams and one promoted team. There was no promoter to Division II.

Divisions III and IV were divided according to the results of their last edition in 2008 . The newcomers were deleted. Estonia , qualified for Division IV, withdrew its team. Division V was formed from the last of Division IV in 2008 (Turkey) and four new teams. EstoniaEstonia

organization

The Women's World Cup in the top division was organized by an organizing committee chaired by Fredy Weisser, who is also a member of the board of directors of the Swiss ice hockey club ZSC Lions . Roger Meier, former trainer of the EHC Winterthur , was responsible in Winterthur . Overall, the committee had a budget of 1.5 million Swiss francs , 160,000 francs are from the IIHF, and the cities of Zurich and Winterthur also provided the infrastructure free of charge or made a smaller financial contribution. The biggest cost of the World Cup was the accommodation and catering for the teams and officials, which devoured around 500,000 francs. A total of 140 volunteers worked on the implementation of the tournament .

mode

After the group matches in the preliminary round, the two group winners qualify directly for the semi-finals. The runners-up and thirds in the group each play a qualifying game for participation in the semi-finals.
