The Biafra pound was the currency of the Republic of Biafra, which existed between 1967 and 1970 after it split from Nigeria . Outside of Biafras, the currency was never recognized.

  • 1 pound = 20 shillings = 240 pence
  • 1 shilling = 12 pence

The following values ​​were issued:

  • Coins 1968–1969: three pence, six pence, one shilling and 2.5 shilling, all made of aluminum; 1 pound in silver; 1, 2, 5, 10 and 25 pounds in gold (max. 3000 pieces per coin)
  • Banknotes: 1967 five shillings, one pound, 1968 five shillings, ten shillings, five pounds, ten pounds
