Julie Wu Chu (born March 13, 1982 in Bridgeport , Connecticut ) is a former American ice hockey player of Chinese origin who has won numerous medals with the US national team at World Championships and Winter Olympics . Between 2010 and 2017 she played for Les Canadiennes de Montréal in the Canadian Women's Hockey League and won the Clarkson Cup three times with this team . She has been working as a trainer since 2007 and as the head trainer at Concordia University since 2016 .
Career
Julie Chu's father Wah comes from the People's Republic of China and emigrated with his mother at the age of one to Hong Kong , and then to New York City in 1967 . There Wah met his future wife Miriam, who is half-Chinese, half- Puerto-Rican and with whom he has three children today. Julie Chu played soccer and trained figure skating as a child before taking up ice hockey. She graduated from high school in 2001 and enrolled at Harvard University .
In 2007 she finished her studies with a degree in psychology .

Chu is married to the ice hockey player Caroline Ouellette . In November 2017, the couple announced the birth of their first daughter.
