Brianna Decker (* 13. May 1991 in Dousman , Wisconsin ) is an American ice hockey player who since the season 2018/19 at the Calgary Inferno from the Canadian Women's Hockey League on the position of the center plays. Career
Decker attended the Shattuck-Saint Mary’s high school in Faribault , Minnesota, USA until 2009 . During this time, the striker took part in the U18 World Junior Championship with the US national team in 2008 and 2009 . There she secured the world championship title in both editions of the tournament. Decker was the top scorer in the 2009 tournament.
With the beginning of the 2009/10 school year, Decker attended the University of Wisconsin – Madison for the next five years , with whose ice hockey team she took part in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association , a division in the game operations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association , parallel to her studies . In her rookie season , the American was able to win both the WCHA championship and the national NCAA title with the university team. The 2010/11 season was crowned with the first-time nomination for the national team of the United States and participation in the 2011 World Cup . This ended with winning the gold medal. She made her debut for the US team at the age of years at the 4 Nations Cup in 2008 .
However, Decker's streak of success never ebbed. At the end of the 2011/12 game year, the University of Wisconsin – Madison team failed to defend their title, but the attacker won the prestigious Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award for best college player in the United States because of her achievements . She also added a silver medal to her collection of titles at the 2012 World Cup . At the end of the 2012/13 season, Decker graduated and won the gold medal at the World Cup again as a member of the US team - and you as the tournament's top scorer . She then moved to the US Ice Hockey Association USA Hockey in order to prepare for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi in the course of the 2013/14 season . These ended with winning the silver medal.
In the summer of 2014, he switched to the professional area. The striker joined the Boston Blades from the Canadian Women's Hockey League , which led her to win the Clarkson Cup . As the most valuable player and top scorer, Decker led the Pride again into the championship final, which this time was lost. With the Americans, they could also shine on an international level. Led by Decker, the US girls won the world championship again - synonymous with their fifth personal title win. As the best striker and most valuable player, Decker made her mark on the tournament. In the fall of 2017, the offensive player returned to USA Hockey - as she did four years earlier - to start preparing for the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , where she won the gold medal with the Americans.
