In the summer of 2011, the American moved to Boston College , where she was a member for the next five years. In her third participation in the U18 World Junior Championship in 2012 , she won her second silver medal and was also named the best attacker in the competition for the second time.

From 2013, the center forward was a member of the United States women's national ice hockey team . At her first major tournament, the 2013 World Cup , she was able to win the world title straight away. The following year, she left Boston College for a season to prepare for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi with the US Hockey Association . In the end there was a silver medal. Then Carpenter returned to Boston College and secured the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award for best college player in the country because of her performances at the end of the season . At the national level, Carpenter had meanwhile successfully completed her college years in 2016 by winning the Hockey East championship for the first time. For the 2016/17 season she then moved to the National Women's Hockey League for the Boston Pride , which she had signed in April 2016 in a transfer deal with the New York Riveters .
