The 3rd ice hockey world championships of the U18 women of the International Ice Hockey Federation IIHF were the ice hockey world championships of 2010 in the age group of under-eighteen year olds (U18). A total of 14 national teams took part in the two top division and division I tournaments between March 27 and April 9, 2010 .

The world champion was the team of Canada for the first time , which could defeat the arch-rivals from the United States with 5: 4 after extra time in the final . The German team finished the tournament in fourth place in the top division, while Switzerland was promoted to the top division in Division I. Austria was fourth and thus third from last in Division I.

The U18 World Championship of the top division took place from March 27 to April 3, 2010 in Chicago , United States . The games were played on the two ice rinks of the Seven Bridges Ice Arena (1,100 and 200 places).

Eight national teams took part, playing in two groups of four teams each. Canada secured the world title with a 5-4 win after extra time over the United States. It was the Canadians' first title win.

After the group games in the preliminary round, the two group winners qualified directly for the semi-finals. The runners-up and thirds in the group each played a qualifying game for participation in the semi-finals. The fourth of the group matches played a best-of-three round for seventh place.

Relegation round

The relegation round was held for the first time in the " best-of-three " mode. Here the fourth placed in group A and the fourth in group B met. The team that won two of a maximum of three games stayed in the World Cup group, the loser was relegated to Division I.
