Anna Meixner (born June 16, 1994 in Zell am See ) is an Austrian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the EHV Sabers Vienna in the Elite Women's Hockey League since 2017 .

Career

Anna Meixner comes from the offspring of EK Zell am See , for whom she played until she was 16. Then she had to leave her home club, which had neither a women's team nor was she allowed to play in the male over 16 teams. Therefore, she first played for EC The Ravens Salzburg in the women's ice hockey Bundesliga before she moved to Vienna as a 17-year-old and was signed by EHV Sabers Vienna . With the Sabers she won the Austrian national championship title , the Elite Women's Hockey League and the EWHL Supercup several times in the following years .

In 2016, Meixner was looking for a new challenge and sent the HV71 trainer from Jönköping an SMS . This ultimately resulted in her first international engagement, which ended in 2017 with the Swedish runner-up title. Since then she has played again for the Sabers and won both the EWHL and the national championship with them in 2018.

Anna Meixner is considered to be one of the fastest and most dangerous goal players in Europe of her generation.

International

In 2008 Anna Meixner made her debut for the Austrian U15 national junior team. Two years later she was nominated for the U18 Women's World Cup in Division I and scored eight points over the course of the tournament. Further World Cup appearances in the U18 area followed in 2011 and 2012, where she was named the best striker in Division I in 2011. At the 2012 Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck , Meixner won the silver medal in the ice hockey tournament with the U16 national team before taking part in her first women's world championship in April 2012 . Since then, she has been an integral part of the national squad and represented Austria at the annual World Championships in Division I as well as in the 2013 and 2017 Olympic qualifications . At the World Cup of Division IA 2015 , she was awarded eleven points as top scorer and consequently as the best striker of the tournament.
