The 2012/13 season was the ninth season of the Elite Women's Hockey League , a women's ice hockey league . In the ninth year of its existence, six teams from Austria (3), Belarus , Italy and Hungary will take part between September 2012 and March 3, 2013 . With the teams from Bolzano and Budapest , two founding members returned to the EWHL, while HC Slovan Bratislava decided not to participate again for financial reasons. The Dutch national team also withdrew from play in order to concentrate on the Olympic qualification tournament.

mode

The six participants played the places in a double round trip in the league system , so that each team played 20 games. For a win, one team was awarded three points for a win after the sudden victory overtime mentioned extension or after the shootout two points. The losing team received no points after regular time, but one point if they lost after extra time or penalty shootout.

The first four teams qualify for the final tournament. The three Austrian teams automatically qualify for the semi-finals of the Austrian State Championship, where they play against the top-ranked Austrian team in the women's ice hockey Bundesliga . The semi-finals will be played in the form of a return leg, the medal decisions in the best-of-three mode .
