Jokūbas Minkevičius

Jokūbas Minkevičius (born March 27, 1921 in Ufa , Bashkir ASSR , † May 5, 1996 in Vilnius ) was a Lithuanian philosopher and politician.

Life

He studied in Smilgiai ( Rajongemeinde Šiauliai ) and from 1932 to 1940 at the grammar school Šiauliai . From 1940 to 1941 he served at NKVD in the Šiauliai district as the deputy head of a subdivision. From 1946 to 1954 he worked at Lietuvos komunistų partija in Kaunas . In 1953 he graduated from the party college of the CPSU in Moscow . From 1959 to 1963 he taught Marxism-Leninism at the Kauno medicinos institutas and from 1963 to 1971 at the Vilnius Party School . In 1971 he received his doctorate in philosophy on the subject of "Catholicism and the nation". From 1974 he was a professor . From 1990 to 1992 he was a deputy at the Seimas . He was a member of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences .

He was a member of the Lietuvos Demokratieinė darbo partija .
