The Rajongemeinde Šiauliai (Lithuanian: Šiaulių rajono savivaldybė ) in the Šiauliai District ( Lithuania ) forms only a narrow border to the southeast around the municipality of Šiauliai , but protrudes all the further to the north and west. Its administrative headquarters are also in the town of Šiauliai. The Rajongemeinde is centrally located in northern Lithuania or in the northwest of the historical landscape of Upper Lithuania ( Aukštaitija ).
