The Rajong Municipality of Šalčininkai ( Šalčininkų rajono savivaldybė ) is a Rajong municipality in southeastern Lithuania . It lies on the border with Belarus in the Dzūkija region . The city and its surroundings are characterized by a multiethnic population that includes Poles, Russians, Lithuanians, Belarusians and Roma. More than 70% of the population are ethnic Poles. The community is located in a wooded area.
