history

Former Raiffeisenbank Oberallgäu-Süd eG

Before the savings and loan association was founded in Oberstdorf , the citizens of Oberallgäu were dependent on loans from wealthy private individuals, most of whom came from the Lech Valley . Since the Lechtal residents only came over the mountains twice a year on April 23 and November 11 to collect their interest and two banking days were not enough, committed citizens of Oberstdorf founded the first cooperative bank in southern Oberallgäu in 1902. In the same year the first Raiffeisenkasse opened in Vorderburg . In Bad Hindelang , Berghofen (later Sonthofen), Stein (later Immenstadt ), Waltenhofen and other communities, Raiffeisenkassen were also established in the following 20 years. Several mergers then followed in the period from 1960 to 2000. In 2002 the Raiffeisenbank Oberallgäu-Süd eG was created through the merger of Raiffeisenbank Oberstdorf-Sonthofen eG and Raiffeisenbank Immenstadt-Waltenhofen eG.

Former Raiffeisenbank Kempten eG

Raiffeisenbank Kempten originated in 1926. On November 20, 27 citizens of the city of Kempten founded the savings and loan association Rothkreuz. These prudent and far-sighted men laid the foundation stone for a cooperative that was renamed Raiffeisenbank Kempten in 1963. In 1970 and 1972, respectively, the Raiffeisen banks in Buchenberg, Heiligkreuz, Weitnau, Wengen and Wiggensbach merged with the Raiffeisenbank Kempten. Another major merger then took place in 1996 with the Raiffeisenbank Sankt Mang. This was created in 1971 from a merger of the Raiffeisen banks in St. Mang, Lenzfried, Betzigau and Wildpoldsried.

In 2014, the merger of the two banks mentioned above resulted in today's Raiffeisenbank Kempten-Oberallgäu eG .
