history

Logo of the Stars de Montréal

After the 2006/07 season , the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL) stopped playing and was replaced by the newly formed Canadian Women's Hockey League . In the course of this, the NWHL team of the Axion de Montréal was dissolved, a new franchise called Stars de Montréal was founded and the player roster was filled with players from the Axion.

In their first season, the 2007/08 season , the stars won 23 of the 30 main round games and finished the regular season of the Eastern Division in first place. In the play-offs they were eliminated against the Mississauga Chiefs . The following game year, the Stars won their first Clarkson Cup when they beat the Minnesota Whitecaps 3-1 in the final. Former Canadian Governor General Adrienne Clarkson presented the trophy to team captain Lisa-Marie Breton . In addition to winning the championship trophy , Caroline Ouellette , Kim St-Pierre and Sabrina Habrec were appointed to the first and second All-Star team.

The Canadiennes have had a partnership with the NHL franchise, the Canadiens de Montréal , since 2015 , based on joint marketing and support from material and ice age. In the course of the partnership, the team renamed itself Les Canadiennes , adopted the team colors of the Canadiens and received a new logo that is based on the logo of the NHL franchise.
