The 2007/08 season was the first season of the Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL), the top Canadian women's ice hockey division in the provinces of Ontario and Québec after the National Women's Hockey League was dissolved . The Brampton Canadettes-Thunder defeated the Mississauga Chiefs in the championship final , securing their first championship title in the CWHL.
Attendees
A total of seven teams from the provinces of Ontario and Québec took part in the first edition of the CWHL , which were divided into two divisions. Some of the individual teams were completely newly founded, while others were renamed teams from the previous NWHL league.

Regular season
The regular season began on September 15, 2007 and ended on February 21, 2008. The winners of the two divisions qualified directly for the play-off semi-finals. The four other teams with the highest points took part in the first play-off round.

Play-offs
The play-offs began on February 23, 2007 and were played in two-legged matches with optional penalty shootouts. The series between Ottawa and Burlington was decided in just one game, as the two teams could not agree on a second game date. The final of the CWHL championship was played in just one game.
