The 2013-14 season was the seventh season of the Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL), the top Canadian division in women's ice hockey . The Stars de Montréal won the regular season of the CWHL, while the Toronto Furies won the Clarkson Cup for the first time in their club's history .
Due to the hosting of the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , Russia , a large part of the season took place without the top Canadian and US players from previous years, as they and their respective ice hockey associations Hockey Canada or USA Hockey have a separate preparation program for the Olympic ice hockey tournament outside of the game found. After the tournament some of the players returned to their respective squads.

In the run-up to the 2013/14 season, the Alberta team was renamed the Calgary Inferno , with both the name and the design of the logo referring to the partner team of the Calgary Flames .

CWHL Draft
On August 26, 2013, the CWHL conducted a fourth draft for female players. The event was held again in Mississauga . In the first place, Jessica Wong was selected by the Calgary Inferno . In total, the 5 teams secured the rights to 66 players, more than 50 of which came from the NCAA game operations.

The regular season began on November 2, 2013 and ended on March 16, 2014. The four teams with the highest points qualified for the final tournament of the Clarkson Cup .

The Clarkson Cup 2014 was the fifth edition of the competition of the same name . Only four representatives of the Canadian Women's Hockey League took part in the final tournament . The tournament was from 19 to 22 March 2014 again in Markham Centennial Center in Markham province Ontario held.
The Toronto Furies won the Clarkson Cup on their first appearance by beating defending champions, the Boston Blades 1-0 . The tournament was largely shaped by the Canadian and US national players who returned to the individual team squad and who won gold and silver medals at the Winter Olympics .
mode
The four participants in the final tournament first held a preliminary round ( single round ) in which the two finalists were determined. The final was decided in a single game.
