The 2012/13 season was the sixth season of the Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL), the top Canadian division in women's ice hockey . The Boston Blades won the regular season of the CWHL and thus qualified for the final tournament for the Clarkson Cup , which they also won for the first time.
Attendees
In the run-up to the 2012/13 season, the Burlington Barracudas' CWHL franchise was dissolved because the team was not competitive and the players complained about the long travel distances. A total of five teams took part in the fifth edition of the CWHL, two from the province of Ontario and one each from Alberta , Québec and the USA .

CWHL Draft
On July 14, 2012, the CWHL carried out a draft for players for the third time in order to standardize the playing level of the teams and to give the players of the disbanded Barracudas the opportunity to find new teams. The event was held again in Mississauga . In the first place, Hillary Pattenden was selected by the Alberta team.

Regular season
The regular season began on October 20, 2012 and ended on March 16, 2013. The four teams with the highest points qualified for the play-offs, at the end of which was the final of the Clarkson Cup .

The Clarkson Cup 2013 was the fourth edition of the competition of the same name . Only four representatives of the Canadian Women's Hockey League took part in the final tournament . The tournament was from 20 to 23 March 2012 at the Markham Centennial Center in Markham province Ontario held.

The four participants in the final tournament first held a preliminary round ( single round ) in which the two finalists were determined. The final was decided in a single game.
