Gillian Mary Apps (born November 2, 1983 in Unionville , Ontario ) is a former Canadian national ice hockey player .

Career

Gillian Apps began her career as a hockey player with the Toronto Eros , with whom she won the championship of the National Women's Hockey League in 2001 and 2002, respectively . In 2002 she began studying at Dartmouth College , which she attended until 2007 and left with a degree in psychology . She then joined the Brampton Thunder , for which she played in the semi-professional Canadian Women's Hockey League until 2013 .

International

Apps for the 2007 World Cup

For Canada , Apps participated in the 2004 , 2005 , 2007 , 2008 and 2009 World Championships . They also stood in the line-up of their country at the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Turin , 2010 in Vancouver and 2014 in Sochi . In 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 she and her team took part in the 4 Nations Cup .

Life

Gillian Apps comes from a well-known family of athletes. Her grandfather Syl Apps , her father Syl Apps junior, and her brother Syl Apps III were all professional ice hockey players. Her sister Amy Apps is a Canadian national soccer player . Her cousin Darren Barber won a gold medal in rowing at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona .

On September 22, 2018, she married the American national ice hockey player Meghan Duggan .
