The 2006/07 season was the ninth and final season of the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL), the top Canadian division in women's ice hockey at the time. The Brampton Thunder defeated the Montréal Axion in the championship final , securing their fourth championship title in the NWHL.
Attendees
The same seven teams took part in the NWHL in the 2006/07 season as in the previous season. Initially it was planned to play the Western Women's Hockey League as the western season of the now nationwide, united NWHL. Due to disagreements over the playoff format between the two leagues, no joint playoffs were played.
The Central Division again consisted of the Mississauga Aeros , who had moved from Toronto to Mississauga, the Brampton Thunder , Oakville Ice and the Etobicoke Dolphins (formerly Durham Lightning ). There were also participants from the Eastern Division, the Ottawa Raiders , Montréal Axion and the Avalanche du Québec .
Regular season
The regular season began on September 16, 2006 and ended on February 25, 2007. Due to missing game results, a complete table cannot be presented. The Mississauga Eros took at least second place, while Jayna Hefford was the best scorer in the league with 39 goals, 32 assists and 71 points.
