The Avalanche du Québec were a Canadian women's ice hockey team from Laval , Québec , and played in the National Women's Hockey League from the 1998/99 season . In 2007 the club was dissolved and since then there has been a junior hockey club under the same name.

history

The origin of the Avalanche lies in a women's team called Sherbrooke Jofa Titan , founded in the 1980s , which was converted into an ice hockey club in 1998 and was accepted into the Central Ontario Women's Hockey League as the Montreal Jofa Titan . With the conversion of the COWHL into the National Women's Hockey League in February 1999, gaming operations were further professionalized.

Between 1999 and 2001, the team played under the name Panthères de Sainte-Julie and reached the play-off final for the NWHL championship in both game years. The team was then known as Le Cheyenne de la Métropole for two years . Between 2002 and 2007 it then played as Avalanche du Québec

After the 2006/07 season , the NWHL stopped playing and was replaced by the newly formed Canadian Women's Hockey League .
