The 2002/03 season was the fifth season of the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL), the top Canadian division in women's ice hockey at the time. The Calgary Oval X-Treme , newly admitted to the league, defeated the Beatrice Eros 3-0 in the championship final and thus secured their first championship title of the NWHL.

Attendees

The league started with ten participants, including two new teams: The Western Division was formed by the Vancouver Griffins and the newly added Calgary Oval X-Treme and Edmonton Chimos . The former teams of the Western Division now formed the Central Division: the Beatrice Eros , Brampton Thunder , Mississauga Ice Bears and the Telus Lightning . In the Eastern Division, the Ottawa Raiders , Montréal Wingstar and the former Sainte-Julie Panthères or Metropol Le Cheyenne , who were renamed Québec Avalanche , continued to play.
