The women's ice hockey world championship was held for the second time in 1992. The World Cup tournament took place from April 20th to 26th in Tampere , Finland . The championship was held again with eight teams; Eligible to participate were the hosts and European champions Finland, the other four best teams from the 1991 European ice hockey championship (Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Switzerland), defending champions Canada, the USA and, as representatives of the Far East, China. Canada won its second world title.
