Colleen Coyne (born September 19, 1971 in Medford , Massachusetts ) is a former American ice hockey player . Coyne was from 1992 to 1998 a member of the women's national ice hockey team of the United States and was with this Olympic champion at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano .

Career

Coyne spent her high school years at Tabor Academy in Marion , Massachusetts, until 1988 , from where she moved to the University of New Hampshire . During her four years at the university, she played hockey for the university team in the ECAC - both ice hockey and lacrosse . With the ice hockey team she won the division title of the ECAC in 1990 and 1991.

After finishing college Coyne moved in the spring of 1992 to the US hockey association USA Hockey . For the next six years she played at the 1992 , 1994 and 1997 World Championships . The striker won the silver medal in all three tournaments. At the women's ice hockey tournament held for the first time as part of the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan, Coyne finally crowned her career by winning the gold medal. She then ended her active career. During the 1993/94 season she also worked as an assistant coach at the University of New Hampshire, catching up on courses from her undergraduate studies. She later served as a representative of the US Ice Hockey Federation.
