Erich Koellner
Heinrich Hermann Erich Koellner (born October 17, 1884 , † April 20, 1918 ) was a German lieutenant captain during the First World War .
Life
Erich Koellner was chief of the 8th minesweeping semi-flotilla from May 1917 during the First World War. During the project to bring four large torpedo boats by six minesweepers across the Hoofden (North Sea) to Flanders, the unit came into a British minefield . Initially, the minesweeper M 95 received two hits and began to sink. During the rescue, the M 39 also ran into a mine. Despite the bad weather, the lead boat M 64 attempted a rescue. But the M 64 also ran into a mine and sank. Six officers, four deck officers and 77 NCOs and men went under with Koellner.

In honor of Erich Koellner, a class 1934 A destroyer was named after him as Z 13 Erich Koellner in the Kriegsmarine .
