Sandra Thalmann (born December 18, 1992 in Basel ) is a Swiss national ice hockey player who has played for SC Reinach in the Swiss Women's Hockey League A since 2012 . With the Swiss national ice hockey team for women , she took part in two Olympic Winter Games and six world championships .
Career
Sandra Thalmann came to ice hockey through her two older brothers and was already on the ice at the age of four. At EHC Rheinfelden she went through the first junior teams, later switched to EHC Zunzgen-Sissach and from the age of twelve was supported by the Baselland competitive sports promotion. After graduating from school, she did an apprenticeship in sports as a designer. Until Thalmann was 18 years old, she trained and played exclusively in male teams.
Thalmann represented her home country at the U18 championships in 2008 and 2009 .
From 2009 Thalmann took part in the women's world championships. She competed there a total of six times and won a bronze medal with the national team in 2012.
Thalmann was selected for the Swiss national ice hockey team for women ahead of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , where the team finished fifth. In 2014 she was able to win the bronze medal with the team at the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi .
By February 2018, Thalmann had completed 145 international matches. In October 2019 she made her comeback in the national team.
