Zuzana Tomčíková (born April 23, 1988 in Zvolen , Czechoslovakia ) is a former Slovak ice hockey goalkeeper who was the goalkeeper of the Slovak national team for many years .
Career
Zuzana Tomčíková was born in Czechoslovakia , but attended Caronport High School in Canada . With the girls' team from the high school, she won the championship of the regional and national league. At the same time, she also played for a boys' team in the South Central minor hockey league . In her home country she was registered with HC Slovan Bratislava , with whom she won the Elite Women's Hockey League in 2007 .
In the 2007/08 season she ran for the Linköpings HC in the Riksserien , before she returned to North America and enrolled at Bemidji State University . In addition to studying communication science ( mass communication ), she played for the Beavers , the university's ice hockey team, in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association . In the four years at the beavers she won numerous personal awards before she successfully completed her studies in 2012.
Between 2012 and 2014 she played for Tornado Moskowskaja Oblast and won the IIHF European Women Champions Cup twice (2013 and 2014) and the Russian championship title with Tornado .
At the 2015 World Junior Championships (Division I) she was in charge of the Hungarian U18 team as an assistant coach.
International
Between 2005 and 2013 Tomčíková was the regular goalkeeper of the Slovak national team and led them with very good goalkeeping performances from Division II ( 2007 ) to the top division of the World Cup ( 2009 ). In addition, she qualified with the national team in two qualifying rounds for the 2010 Winter Olympics , in which Slovakia finished last (eighth) place.
Tomčíková also took part in the 2009 women's street hockey world championship in Pilsen . At the Winter Universiade 2011 she won the bronze medal with the Slovak student selection. In the same year she took part in the World Cup and showed the best of her career there. Therefore, she was named Most Valuable Player of the tournament and appointed to the All-Star Team.
