Sara Seiler (born January 25, 1983 in Hausham ) is a former German national ice hockey player .

Career

Sara Seiler learned to skate on the Spitzingsee at the age of four . However, she did not choose figure skating, but wanted to become an ice hockey player. Therefore, she joined the TEV Miesbach and went through the male junior teams together with Julia Zart and Sandra Rumswinkel . She played for the TEV until the school league, before moving to the ERSC Ottobrunn . There she started women's ice hockey at the age of 14 . From 2001 she played for ESC Planegg in the Bundesliga South .

After graduating from high school in Miesbach , she became a sports soldier at the Neubiberg base in the rank of sergeant . Seiler later trained as an office clerk .

Her previous clubs were the TV Kornwestheim , DSC Oberthurgau , Ottawa Raiders and SC Reinach .

After the 2006 Winter Olympics, she decided to move to North America and played in the 2006/07 season for the Ottawa Raiders in the NWHL .

She then enrolled at Carleton University in order Economics study. In addition to her studies, she worked for the Carleton Ravens , the university's ice hockey team, in the RSEQ division of the Canadian Interuniversity Sport . In the last two years there she was there - as the first European - team captain. In 2012 she finished her studies and was the Ravens fitness coach in the 2012/13 and 2013/14 seasons. In parallel, she played in the 2012/13 season for the Ottawa Ice Cats in an AA-level league of the Ontario Women's Hockey Association.

She left Canada in November 2013 to prepare for the 2014 Winter Olympics at ERC Ingolstadt in the 1st Bundesliga.

Seiler has been team manager at the Carleton Ravens since the 2014/15 season.

International

Sara Seiler was accepted into the German national team early in her career and was part of the selection team from 2004 onwards.

Internationally, she has played a total of 166 games, scoring 24 goals and providing 18 assists.
