Editing in Winterthur

The Landbote is a Swiss daily newspaper from the city of Winterthur , which is distributed in the city and region of Winterthur and is often an official publication there.

history

The newspaper was founded in 1836 by the Democrats as a voice against the overwhelming power of the city of Zurich in the canton. From the beginning he represented liberalism , which at that time stood in opposition to the conservative government. From 1860 it was shaped by Salomon Bleuler , who, as a representative of the Democratic Movement of the Canton of Zurich, was a cantonal, government and national councilor. He had inherited the paper in 1886 from his brother-in-law Gottlieb Ziegler and was editor, editor-in-chief, and later publisher until 1898, making the paper the mouthpiece of the Democrats. In contrast to the liberal NZZ , the opposition “Landbote” campaigned for the new, direct-democratic constitution of the canton of Zurich from 1869, including in its supplement, the “Züriheiri”.

The Landbote appears daily with articles from home and abroad, sports and the local area. The Landbote is divided into a regional part (city and region of Winterthur) and a national / international part (including sport).

He has a WEMF - certified Edition (. PY 24'734) of 24'101 sold or 24'944 (previous year 25'586.) Distributed copies and a reach of 51,000 readers (WEMF (previous year: 53,000). MACH Basic 2018-II). Every Wednesday, a large print run of 79,331 (previous year 79,703) copies and a reach of 89,000 (previous year 92,000) readers is published and distributed free to all households. The Landbote is a media partner of FC Winterthur and supports many regional sports clubs.

From 1861 to 2013 the Landbote belonged to the Winterthur Ziegler Druck- und Verlags-AG .

Takeover by Tamedia

In 2005 the Ziegler Druck- und Verlags-AG outsourced the printing of the Landbote to Tamedia and took over the printing of various magazines. At the same time, Tamedia took a 20 percent stake in Ziegler. From 2007 to 2010 Tamedia entrusted the Landbote with the creation of a joint jacket for the Landbote and the Thurgauer Zeitung in their possession under the name “Die Nordostschweiz”. At the beginning of 2011, the Landbote was integrated into the network of Zürcher regional newspapers and Tamedia entrusted the production of the cover pages of the network instead of the Zürichsee-Zeitung . Tamedia canceled the contract at the end of 2013, whereupon by the end of 2013 Ziegler Druck- und Verlags-AG, to which Ziegler Druck and Ziegler Digital also belonged, had a majority stake of 9.5% of a single shareholder and heir of the founding family could take over. From 2014 onwards she transferred the production of the cover pages to the Berner Zeitung and converted the Ziegler Druck- und Verlags-AG into the Zürcher Regionalzeitungen AG in 2015. In March 2014, Tamedia also took over the share of the individual shareholder and has since been the sole owner of Ziegler Druck- und Verlags-AG and thus of Landbote .

Since the beginning of 2018, only one German and one French-speaking Tamedia editorial team has been creating the international / national cover (domestic, international, business and sports) for the 12 paid daily and 2 Sunday newspapers of Tamedia. The previous editor-in-chief of Tages-Anzeiger / SonntagsZeitung Arthur Rutishauser is the head of the German-speaking main editorial team . He also remains editor-in-chief of the SonntagsZeitung . Benjamin Geiger remains editor-in-chief of the Zürcher regional newspapers Zürichsee-Zeitung , Der Landbote and Zürcher Unterländer .
