history

Ziegler Druck- und Verlags-AG was founded in 1836 as the printing and publishing company of the Landbote , which was founded in 1836 in association with the first political newspaper in the Winterthur area - the canton's second newspaper after the NZZ . 24 years after it was founded, the Landbote received its first editor in Salomon Bleuler. A year later, in 1861, Salomon Bleuler bought the newspaper and set up a printing shop in the house on Garnmarkt. In 1877 he was replaced as editor by Gottlieb Ziegler, who later married Johanna Bleuler, Salomon's daughter.

After the death of his wife in 1886 he handed the sole proprietorship his three daughters, the company was now on as siblings Ziegler first as a general partnership and a little later than limited out. Through further inheritance to the descendants, the partnership became wider and wider.

It was not until almost 100 years later that the form of the company changed again, the limited partnership was converted into a stock corporation in 1974 , which, however, remained family-owned. In 1980 the new printing plant was built in the Grüze industrial area .

In 1996 the publishing house was reorganized with its Cockpit , Hoteljournal and Interieur magazines . In 1997, the printing technology and back office staff moved into an extension at the printing plant in the Grüze industrial area. In the same year, the Landbote also got its first website.

In 2005 the Ziegler Druck- und Verlags-AG outsourced the printing of the Landbote to Tamedia and took over the printing of various magazines. At the same time, Tamedia took a 20 percent stake in Ziegler. From 2007 a cooperation agreement existed with the Thurgauer Zeitung , but this was sold to the St. Galler Tagblatt at the end of 2010 . In the years 2009/2010, the three magazines from our own publishing house were also sold on to various publishing houses. With the relaunch of landbote.ch in 2011, they won the bronze award from Best of swiss web in the “Innovation” category for a controller navigation with which you could choose a news mix from regional to international.

Takeover by Tamedia

From 2011, Tamedia entrusted the Landbote with the production of the cover pages for the Zurich regional newspapers instead of the Zürichsee-Zeitung . Tamedia canceled the order at the end of 2013, whereupon it was able to take over Ziegler Druck- und Verlags-AG, which also included Ziegler Druck and Ziegler Digital, entirely at the end of August 2013. From 2014 onwards she transferred the production of the cover pages to the Berner Zeitung and converted the Ziegler Druck- und Verlags-AG into the Zürcher Regionalzeitungen AG in 2015.
