Career
Brandt, who grew up in the Minneapolis suburbs with her adoptive sister Marissa , came to ice hockey through figure skating . Her older sister strived after her and so they played together for the school team at Hill-Murray High School between 2009 and 2011 . While her sister graduated from high school in 2011 and studied at Gustavus Adolphus College for the following school year , the more talented Hannah took part in the 2011 U18 World Junior Championship with the US U18 national selection . There she won the gold medal with the team.
The following year Brandt finally graduated from high school and received a scholarship to the University of Minnesota . While she was playing with the university team in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association , one of the top divisions of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, in parallel with her studies , her adoptive sister played with Gustavus Adolphus College in Division III of the NCAA. Hannah Brandt developed as a player for the Golden Gophers to a national player and, at the age of 18, played her first tournament with the women's national ice hockey team in the United States at the 2012 World Cup . There the striker won the silver medal.
Despite this success, the offensive player did not succeed in establishing herself permanently in the US team in the following years. All the more successful, however, was her college career, which she completed in 2016 with the third win of the national NCAA title. For the national team, Brandt was only used at the 2015 World Cup , but she won the world title with the US girls. In the 2016/17 season, he finally switched to the professional sector. However, instead of switching to one of the major North American leagues, she joined the non-league Minnesota Whitecaps in the summer of 2016 , which only played friendly games against teams from NCAA universities and high schools . Nevertheless, Brandt was again a member of the US team at the 2017 World Cup and won her second gold medal. For the 2017/18 season, Brandt was recruited by the US Ice Hockey Association USA Hockey in order to start preparing for the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , where she won the gold medal with the US women. Her adoptive sister was a member of the Korean ice hockey team under her maiden name Park Yoon-jung .
For the 2018/19 season , Brandt and her club team were accepted into the National Women's Hockey League , where they immediately won the Isobel Cup , the league's championship trophy , with the Whitecaps . In addition, a few weeks later she became world champion again with the United States at the 2019 World Cup.
