Maplewood is a city in the US state of Minnesota . It is located in Ramsey County north and east of Saint Paul and has a population of around 34,900.

Maplewood is located in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul metropolitan area and shares approximately 19 kilometers of the city limits with Saint Paul. This division resulted in a narrow rectangular section in the south and a northern part. According to the United States Census Bureau , the area of the city is 46.6 square kilometers, of which 1.7 square kilometers is water.
history
As an independent place, Maplewood only emerged on February 27, 1957 with the establishment of a Village . The southern section of the place was formed from areas of the former McLean Township, the northern part from the New Canada Township . At that time Maplewood had around 14,200 residents. It received city rights in the 1970s.
