White Bear Lake is located in the northeast suburb of Saint Paul at 45 ° 05'05 "north latitude and 93 ° 00'36" west longitude and extends over 21.19 km². The place is located on the lake of the same name .

Neighboring locations to White Bear Lake are Dellwood (4.7 km northeast), Birchwood Village (on the eastern city limits), North St. Paul (11.9 km south), Little Canada (10.2 km southwest), Gem Lake ( on the western city limits) and North Oaks (on the northwestern city limits).

Downtown Saint Paul is 17.3 km southwest of White Bear Lake; central Minneapolis is 17 miles west-southwest.

The southern city limits are formed by Interstate 694 , a bypass off Interstate 94 . The eastern branch of Interstate 35 runs through the west of the city and is the fastest connection from Saint Paul to Duluth near the border with Canada . The US Highway 61 leads as the main road through the city center. On the eastern outskirts of the city is the northern endpoint of Minnesota State Route 120 . In the northeast, at the confluence with US Highway 61, is the western terminus of Minnesota State Route 96 .

Several lines of the Soo Line Railroad and the Canadian National Railway meet in White Bear Lake .

The nearest airport is Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport, 20 miles southwest .
